Richmond Meet Up Success!

Before I begin to tell you about my meet up with Ned, I have to mention that I'm a COMPLETE donut and forgot to take a single picture. I even double checked before I left the house that I had my camera. I promise, next time I'll take some snaps!

Ned (not actually her name, which I'm sure you know) is absolutely lovely and I adore her (how can you not adore someone that tells you the second they meet you, that you are "so pretty"?!). She is funny, gorgeously attractive and a real pleasure to hold a conversation with.

We met at Starbucks and gabbed about our SIL's, then headed to the California Pizza Kitchen for lunch. There are 3 things I always worry about when conversing with someone new and they are SEX, MONEY and POLITICS. We did find ourselves on the 2nd subject a little (how can you not when talking about my SIL) but I think I managed to get by without voicing some of my huge opinions! We also discussed blogland, our husbands and their work and some of our crazy ass social situations! I left Short Pump Town Center utterly refreshed from such a wonderful afternoon.

I truly hope that next time Ned's down in Richmond, she gives me a call to meet up again. If not, I may just have to hunt her down and drag her by her hair (kidding!!).

Jan 9th: Richmond, VA Meet Up!

Cloggsy here! Just thought I'd let you all know that Ned (of Peyton Place) and I will be meeting for coffee at Short Pump Town Center in Richmond on the 9th January. Another preppy meet up - woo woo!

If there are any other Richmond (or Virginia) bloggers that want to join us, let us know in the comments and we'll give you the time and place!

One of the quirkiest things about this little get together were the many wardrobe similarities we discovered that day. For instance: Mel and I were wearing the same coat, Mel and E were wearing the same shoes, Me and E had the same headband, E and J had the same bracelet... the list goes on. We were chuckling about these "coincidences" all day.

And then, in Brooks Brothers as I'm at the cash register paying for my wares, Mel comes up to me and asks me what I'm buying. "A book and these totally cute cashmere socks," I say. "Which ones?" she asks. I point to the shelf where they are and say "Those ones." "I already have those exact ones!" she says. So I just replied with, "I wanna be just like you."

Do you want to be just like us too? Well then these are the socks for you (mmm... sooooo soft and comfy!)

And there you have it. Mel's observation puts it best: if you looked in all of our closets, you'd probably find the exact same wardrobe.

Aren't preppy friends simply the best?!

I haven't contributed before now because a) I didn't bring a camera and left the picture-taking to the other girls, and b) I don't really have anything new to add! So I'll just reiterate what has already been said--everyone is just as nice and sweet as you would expect. I am sorry I missed seeing Kimba and Coll this time and am especially bummed I didn't get to meet Mr. Monty Morris. But I figure that just gives us more reason to meet up again soon!

Oh, and I also have to mention that I L-O-V-E my GG World Tour tote! I've been using it this week to bring Christmas goodies in to my new co-workers. It is the perfect size and a lovely reminder of my blog friend from up north!

Off to Smartypants U with Kimba, Coll and Leesie...

We each rubbed John Harvard's toe for good luck...

Then met up with Libby for lunch...

In seriously, one of the cutest restaurants I've ever been in. (Already planning high tea there for next year, girls!)

And more strolling through the streets of Boston...

Where we literally bumped into Mel and Monty on the corner as they were pulling into town...

Then it was off to In the Pink...

Our favorite guy stood guard...

We went in Burberry (no pictures please!), Brooks Brothers (got the cutest cashmere argyle socks) and even bumped into this happy little elf on the street...

And after a loooooong day of walking around, it was time to go back to the hotel, have a sit down, a cocktail and get ready for dinnies.

Unfortunately, I missed all the daytime festivities of the Blowout, but I was present and accounted for at the dinner we all met for. The location was Rustic Kitchen in the heart of the Theatre District in Boston. I arrived first and it dawned on me that while I knew what most of the girls looked like, I have never posted a picture of myself on my blog, so how would they know me? I anxiously waited at the hostess stand for the Grand Arrival. Moments later, in walked a group of four bundled up ladies and IT WAS THEM!!! I caught Lisagh's eye and she looked right at me and said "You look just like your daughter". Group hugs all around and then off to our table to place our drink orders!

The conversation flowed right from the start. Hard to believe, but there are some talkers in this group! A lot of "where did you grow up", "what college did you attend" and when Mel arrived, "what type of wine do you drink?" We had a lot of laughs and the food was great. Then, the surprise hit of the night arrived in the form of the most beautiful birthday cake ever for Mel. Lisagh did an amazing job in surprising her with a perfectly preppy cake. It was almost too beautiful to eat! The night wrapped up surprisingly early but the Girls had a busy day trudging all around town and there was snow in the forecast. Off we went in our separate directions but not before promising to do it all again! And guess what, You are all invited! Kudos to Libby for being such a great organizer!

If you've seen Libby's slideshow, you must be wondering why we are all displaying the same tote at some point. True, the similarities in our outfits was uncanny (more on that later) but that is not the case. I had to come up with some sort of hostess gift for my many lovely hostesses and I thought nothing would be cuter than a little tote! Perfect for carrying your lunch or some sweet little preppy purchases. Here it is... I hope everyone liked them!

But, I don't want to leave anyone out, because truly, so many of you were with us in spirit! Let me know if you'd be interested in purchasing one of these ... I'll take "on good faith" orders until Jan. 1st and then will arrange a way for payment (probably invoicing through PayPal for $30 plus shipping.)

Beginning of Saturday

Libby had an exam to write, so Kimba and Coll were gracious enough to come collect me from my hotel at 10am on Saturday and we ventured through the slushy streets of Boston, down into the deep, dark, caverns of the Boston T. Big city mass transit - I felt rather cosmopolitan!

Here's Kimba and I as we're about to catch the train to Cambridge... off to see where all the smartypants congregate.

And with Coll under the Green Line sign.

Once in Cambridge, we walked around and went in some of the shops. This place, Life is Good, has the sweetest stuff. As soon as Coll saw this adorable "Tea" Shirt, she immediately said it reminded her of Chloe. Of course, we had to take a picture for our pal.

Then we went to Lush and were treated to a "FREE!" hand treatment. I wouldn't say the sales lady was Rather Forceful and Aggressive, but she might as well have been grabbing our ankles sobbing in hysterics as we walked out of there with no product and the softest hands this side of the Dove testing facility.

If I may be so bold to say, I am simply in love with these girls. They are the real deal, so genuine and just a delight to be around. We had such a good time, you'd never know we'd only met just a few hours before.

And maybe, just maybe we have a future working on The Price is Right. Barker's Beauties have nothing on us!

Tomorrow, I'll continue with more of our adventure ... remind me to ask Kimba what "Poking the Jelly in Harvard Square" means. And yes, there's video. We just have to figure out how to get it off Kimba's phone.
